Thomas has been involved with Smith Hearing Technologies since the 1960s. He began working for his father while still in school. At the time, all appointments were in the home, and Thomas would drive his father to and from the appointments during the summer and on evenings after school. After serving in the military, Thomas returned to the area and eventually joined the family business, taking over fully in the 1990s. He currently works alongside his son, Eric, making Smith Hearing Technologies a third generation business.
